About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the company's finances end to end, including cash, books, payments, projections and financial planning
Keep a 13-week cash flow current weekly, identify the cash trough and align supplier and purchase-order payments to the plan
Close the books on time each month with the outside bookkeeper
Review the P&L against budget with the CEO
Run contractor pay twice monthly
Pay supplier, freight, software, card, affiliate and creator invoices and payouts correctly and on time
Project subscriptions, subscription cohorts and the cash conversion cycle
Compare projections with actuals and flag deviations promptly
Prepare sales tax filings with the CPA and ensure sales tax and corporate tax filings are timely
Grow credit limits and lines and establish and operate an asset-based lending facility
Own bank and lender relationships
Manage currency exposure for supplier payments in RMB, USD and CAD
Implement two-person approval for every payment and monthly reconciliation of every account
Keep the books audit-ready
Set and track annual and monthly budgets
Provide weekly cash updates to leadership and a monthly finance report to the CEO
Own AI finance agents and automations
Help structure and handle tax matters for new entities with the CPA

Requirements

What you’ll need

Fully remote, fractional: about 1-2 days a week approx. (as needed), ongoing, as a contractor
Fluent in English
CFO or VP of Finance experience for at least one DTC ecommerce brand doing $30M+ a year
Hands-on experience running 13-week cash flows, monthly closes with an outside bookkeeper, and contractor and supplier payments
Experience reconciling Shopify and Amazon payouts
Understanding of nCPA, MER, LTV, COGS and inventory cash cycles
Ability to build cash flow, subscription cohort and cash conversion cycle projections
Experience setting up or managing an inventory- or receivables-backed credit facility
Ability to maintain lender confidence through clean reporting
Sales tax experience alongside a CPA
Experience running payment processes with approvals and reconciliations
Strong attention to detail with payments, filings and financial records
Discreet and trustworthy with contractor pay, bank access and owner finances
Responsive to cash or payment issues, including outside set working days
Excellent cultural fit aligned with the company's stated values
Excitement to work closely with the founder and help scale the company
Bonus: experience with an inventory-heavy brand importing from China
Bonus: cross-border experience, such as US and Hong Kong
