About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create an environment that reduces or eliminates occupational injuries from work-related accidents
  • Monitor the production floor for safety issues
  • Chair the site Safety Team and serve on the Corporate Safety Team in Gordonsville
  • Plan and implement safety policies and procedures complying with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations
  • Plan and implement training programs for managers and employees on workplace safety, fire prevention, and safe working techniques
  • Prepare studies and analyses of plant or site accident causes and health hazards
  • Propose corrective actions for company personnel and outside agencies
  • Inspect facilities to identify existing or potential accident and health hazards
  • Determine corrective or preventative measures and follow up on implementation
  • Provide signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of safety hazards and prevent access to hazardous conditions
  • Represent the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs
  • Comply with corporate safety policies and procedures
  • Help the site drive circularity and sustainability
  • Perform other assignments as directed to ensure exceptional customer value in products and services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience and/or training, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational safety practices
  • Experience in safety program implementation, risk assessments, incident investigations, and employee training
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and drive results through collaboration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to travel overnight to other Klöckner Pentaplast facilities and safety-related events
  • Ability to stand, walk, occasionally climb, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work around moving machinery, chemicals, elevated areas, and varying weather conditions
