About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the Verona site’s health and safety strategy aligned to corporate standards and regulation
- Build a mature safety culture by coaching leaders, challenging unsafe behaviours and embedding accountability for risk
- Ensure compliance with Italian HSE legislation, company and industry standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and BRCGS
- Maintain effective management systems and lead inspections, audits and assurance activities
- Lead risk identification, assessment and control
- Conduct incident investigations to identify systemic causes and prevent recurrence
- Develop induction, refresher and risk-specific competency and training programmes
- Oversee emergency preparedness covering fire, evacuation, first aid and crisis response
- Drive environmental compliance and sustainability improvements involving waste, recycling, emissions and energy
- Analyse HSE indicators including TRIR, incidents, near-misses and audits, identify trends and advise leadership
- Manage HSE budgets, contractor safety and related procurement
- Work closely with the site management team as a trusted advisor influencing operational and strategic decisions
- Report to the Site Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years’ HSE experience in manufacturing or industrial environments, preferably packaging or related industries
- Strong knowledge of Italian health, safety and environmental legislation, including D.Lgs. 81/2008, D. Min. 2 settembre 2021, and UE 2023/1230, and its practical application in a manufacturing setting
- Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations and safety training
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, IEMA or UNI 11720 preferred
- Experience in a regulated environment such as food, pharmaceutical or consumer packaging manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies preferred
- Strong leadership, influencing, communication, training, analytical and detail-oriented abilities
- Ability to engage employees at every level and build ownership of safety
- Proactive and results-driven approach with a strong commitment to safety excellence
