About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Liaise with Project Managers regarding project scope and enquiries.
- Perform calculations and prepare files for field use.
- Provide field survey services using conventional survey methods.
- Work with RPAS and Machine Control when required.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during field survey activities.
- Lead with a safe-work mindset and encourage safe work practices in others.
- Work closely with the Director of Geomatics in daily activities.
- Collaborate with different company divisions to assist with their survey needs.
- Perform both office and field survey work across construction projects.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A diploma or degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- An Advanced RPAS license is considered an asset.
- Previous experience working as a Geomatics Technician or in a similar role, preferably in a surveying or geospatial industry, is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment used in construction layout and engineering surveys.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D and processing point clouds.
- Ability to work outdoors in diverse weather and terrain conditions.
- Ability to learn new techniques and contribute ideas.
- Willing to travel to projects throughout B.C.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Further skills in UAV drone operation, underground locates, and terrestrial laser scanner operation are encouraged and valued.
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and professionalism while representing the company and interacting with clients and stakeholders.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions and project requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and focus on accuracy and precision in survey data collection, processing, and analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and resolve survey-related challenges.
- Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to Metro Vancouver Regional District, BC before starting work.
- Construction experience: 2 years preferred.
- Surveying experience: 2 years preferred.
