About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide pragmatic legal advice and support on contract review, negotiation, dispute resolution, intellectual property and company secretarial matters
Draft, update and implement compliance policies covering personal data protection, anti-trust, anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, gifts and donations, conflicts of interest and other compliance matters
Develop and implement compliance frameworks and programs across the APAC region
Establish legal and compliance procedures and processes aligned with business operations and best practices
Provide training to stakeholders and local markets
Monitor new and emerging laws and regulations applicable to the APAC region and recommend compliance actions
Identify legal and compliance risks and provide strategic mitigation recommendations
Build and strengthen compliance culture and awareness across APAC
Prepare training materials and conduct legal and compliance training
Conduct compliance reviews and audits to identify gaps and improvement areas
Act as legal and compliance point of contact for local business units
Prepare APAC legal and compliance reports for senior management

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) or equivalent
5 to 8 years of experience in a reputable law firm and/or in-house
Solid general legal background
Strong technical, drafting, research and analytical skills
Practical commercial acumen
Experience implementing compliance programs, policies and procedures is an added advantage
Ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders positively
Ability to work independently
Highly detail-oriented and meticulous
Ability to engage confidently and effectively with people across different seniorities, expertise, roles and cultures
Willingness to take on leadership roles in Legal and Compliance projects
Good presentation and training skills
Skill in content creation tools such as Canva is an added advantage
