Key responsibilities & impact

Own the KNKX and Jazz24 streams as their product manager across the website, apps, smart speakers, and 70+ other platforms
Manage the streaming vendor
Troubleshoot stream issues with engineering and the vendor
Help Listener Services answer recurring listener questions
Track and explain audio analytics, including listening behavior, devices, platforms, and performance trends
Turn analytics into clear, concise takeaways for colleagues and leadership
Run the podcast portfolio and help build the daily workflow
Package podcast episodes for Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and NPR
Grow the podcast portfolio on major platforms
Manage KNKX’s audio across NPR platforms, including the NPR app, NPR.org, and digital newscasts
Pitch podcast episodes and stories to the NPR Network
Build and own the product roadmap for KNKX On-Demand
Connect the two-week archive of recent shows to the broader digital offering
Record, mix, and produce special projects or fill in on podcast episodes when needed
Report to the Director of Digital Strategy & Projects and receive transition support

Requirements

What you’ll need

Around 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 of those years working in audio. We care more about what you can do than the exact count
Experience with audio analytics tools such as Triton
Understanding of the differences between broadcast, web and digital audio metrics
Project management experience, and ideally product management
Experience managing a vendor that a critical part of the operation depends on
Strong customer service skills with listeners and colleagues
Experience leading peers or a project team
Ideas on how a local station builds loyal listeners in a crowded digital space
Habit of learning through courses, certifications, webinars, free programs, or other methods
Comfortable working in Slack and Google Workspace
Able to work a hybrid schedule - two days a week in the Seattle or Tacoma studio
Cover letter required
Pluses, not requirements: experience at a radio station or in public media, familiarity with NPR Network platforms, hands-on audio production, or experience as an audio tech for video production in studio or on location
