Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop MEP strategies and plans aligned with company objectives
  • Oversee and direct all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of construction projects
  • Ensure MEP systems are designed, installed, and commissioned according to specifications, budgets, schedules, and regulations
  • Champion the Zero Incident Safety Culture through pre-planning and proactive measures
  • Oversee safety standards through audits, training, and site visits
  • Collaborate with design teams to integrate MEP systems with architectural and structural elements
  • Review MEP designs and plans and guide specifications and drawings
  • Provide MEP expertise for project pursuits, client interviews, estimating, and preconstruction
  • Create scopes of work for MEP bid packages and equipment
  • Lead MEP activities from design through project completion
  • Direct MEP professionals, designers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Supervise MEP scopes of work against schedules and budgets
  • Monitor progress and resolve delays, quality, compliance, and other MEP issues
  • Manage risk mitigation throughout the project life cycle
  • Negotiate MEP pricing and change orders
  • Prepare and manage MEP budgets and estimate materials, labor, and equipment costs
  • Oversee procurement and monitor material deliveries and equipment quality
  • Track pricing data and identify value-engineering and cost-reduction methods
  • Coordinate MEP systems with other project departments
  • Serve as the point of contact for MEP-related project issues
  • Communicate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, leadership, and project teams
  • Ensure MEP quality and regulatory compliance through inspections and pre-work meetings
  • Build organizational MEP capabilities and a collaborative, high-performing team
  • Hire, train, develop, coach, and mentor employees
  • Investigate and implement innovative MEP technologies and sustainable practices
  • Establish relationships with MEP subcontractors, designers, and AEC industry contacts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Robust knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and related regulations and codes
  • Proven track record of leading MEP initiatives on large, complex projects
  • Strong risk management and risk mitigation skills
  • Experience in the planning and construction of commercial construction
  • Thorough knowledge of construction technology, equipment, methods, schedule, cost, safety, and quality
  • Experience in effectively leading or organizing teams to achieve outcomes
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Able to attend conferences and seminars to maintain licensure for MEP continuing education
  • Ability to travel and visit job sites on a regular basis
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering; Construction Management or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of commercial mechanical / electrical construction, design experience, or project management experience with an MEP focus
  • LEED, PE License, CEM, PMP, BSI, BICSI, or OSHA-30 certifications/licenses are beneficial
  • Experience in healthcare, education, and science & technology market sectors is preferred
