About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Direct, coordinate, and perform operational compression job activities according to Kodiak procedures, goals, and objectives
- Operate compressor packages, gas processes, and rental equipment
- Troubleshoot complex repairs and major equipment overhauls and operations
- Build and maintain customer relationships
- Analyze job parts and supply inventory and communicate with Supply Chain to ensure sufficient parts
- Take corrective actions to maintain guaranteed mechanical availability of 98% or better
- Attend and participate in all HSE meetings and ensure adherence to HSE protocols
- Maintain assigned units in clean and presentable condition
- Complete required reports and actions under area operating procedures and policies
- Provide 24/7 coverage
- Work overtime and participate in on-call rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Backfill and assist other field positions as needed
- Perform additional assigned tasks
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Preferred: OEM, Trade School or 2 plus years comparable work experience in a related field/industry
- Successful completion of Kodiak’s Short Service Employee (SSE) program
- Minimum 1–2 years in an entry-level Field Technician role
- 3+ years total of compression process, production, and equipment-related experience and/or training
- Electrical troubleshooting skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Advanced knowledge of compressor packages, including components, systems, and motor compressor mechanics (Waukesha, Ariel, Caterpillar, etc.)
- Working knowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Valid driver’s license with Motor Vehicle Record within acceptable Company Policy parameters required
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
- Ability to climb ladders or stairs and maintain balance without assistance
- Ability to communicate and respond to coworkers, customers, and emergency cues/alarms, in person and by telephone/mobile devices
- Ability to frequently lift at least 10 pounds and infrequently lift more than 50 pounds
- Ability to work in high-noise environments, hazardous chemical exposure, extreme heat and cold, and tight or confined spaces
- Ability to wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots
- Cat, Waukesha, and Ariel certifications preferred
