About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide field support services and assist managers, supervisors, and team members with Company and Client Safety and Health policies and procedures
  • Support regulatory compliance and continual improvement of company safety performance
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce and eliminate injuries, illnesses, and incidents
  • Provide safety and health training and education to company personnel
  • Support pre-job safety planning meetings and develop emergency response plans
  • Develop work safety and health plans in a fast-paced environment
  • Initiate, coordinate, and lead safety meetings and training programs
  • Perform and document safety and health audits, evaluations, inspections, and behavioral observations
  • Communicate and facilitate corrective and preventative actions
  • Assist in injury, illness, and general liability incident investigations
  • Develop and issue regular safety and health correspondence
  • Provide updates on company and regulatory requirements
  • Identify team members needing safety assistance, training, or support
  • Coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors, vendors, and third-party personnel
  • Serve as a point of contact for federal, state, or municipal safety and risk management authorities, including OSHA, when the Safety Manager is unavailable
  • Work night shift

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor degree in Safety and Health or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience
  • Targeting 5+ years of experience with safety and health in the construction industry is preferred; experience in the aforementioned project types is a strong plus
  • All experience levels will be considered with corresponding changes to the role
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and other state/federal safety regulations and company safety policies/procedures
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organization skills
  • Ability to independently prioritize, think independently, communicate thoroughly, and influence corrective and preventative actions
  • Ability to work in a high production environment (50+ hours/week, including nights and weekends) and respond quickly under pressure and deadlines
  • Ability to make independent judgments regarding company safety programs/policies
  • Ability to positively interact with and influence front line supervisors and field personnel
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred
  • OSHA 30-Hour and 10-Hour Trainer certification preferred
