About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct comprehensive assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations and diagnostic screenings using DSM-V and ASAM criteria
- Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans with the interdisciplinary team
- Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy at IOP and OP levels of care
- Deliver interventions using Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, trauma-informed care, and other best-practice modalities
- Facilitate case management, treatment goal setting, discharge planning, and collaboration with referral sources and external providers
- Educate clients on mental health conditions, treatment options, recovery strategies, and coping skills
- Coordinate support services involving referral sources, family members, and other providers
- Participate in treatment team meetings to review client progress and coordinate holistic care
- Provide crisis intervention and participate in rotating after-hours on-call coverage as needed
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation according to organizational, state, and CARF standards
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, case managers, and other providers regarding co-occurring psychiatric and substance use needs
- Maintain individualized therapeutic alliances with patients
- Promote the organization within the community and with referral partners
- Stay current on clinical practices, regulatory changes, and behavioral health advancements
- Support clinical excellence measured by retention, treatment-goal achievement, program completion, and transitions between care levels
- Obtain secondary signatures from licensed supervisors when applicable
- Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a behavioral health setting, preferably with IOP or outpatient programs
- Experience conducting assessments, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions
- Strong understanding of DSM-5 diagnoses and mental health disorders
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, CBT, DBT, and other therapeutic modalities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support clients from diverse backgrounds
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation
- LMSW, LCSW, or LPC license required in both Washington, DC and Virginia
