About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Set design direction for complex healthcare and enterprise products.
Raise the quality standard of shipped design work.
Grow designers and develop them into leads and leaders.
Own client relationships and account health.
Lead a design pod across several clients or a large enterprise account with designers, researchers, and product managers.
Take over an active client account or pod and earn client confidence.
Grow client relationships in scope, influence, and revenue.
Shape how Koru operates beyond individual engagements.
Challenge briefs, use user and business evidence, and establish design strategies adopted by client leaders.
Lead practical AI use and AI experience design, with accountability for shipped work.
Coach, critique, hire, and grow designers in partnership with the Head of Design Practice.
Serve as the primary contact for senior client leaders, including VP and CXO stakeholders.
Manage account growth, repeat revenue, margins, quality, creativity, and timeliness.
Support pitches, proposals, and new client opportunities with Koru leadership.
Build thought leadership through writing, talks, and design work.
Allocate people to work and keep delivery on track.
Report to the CEO.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum 10 years in UX and design, including at least 4 years leading client-facing design teams.
Remote within India, with regular overlap with US working hours.
Experience leading design engagements for external clients at a consultancy, agency, studio, or design practice of a services firm.
In-house leadership experience is welcome if real stakeholder and business outcomes were owned.
Close to the craft and able to raise the quality of others' work through critique.
Experience shaping design strategy, not just executing it.
Recognised in the design community for design thinking, or possessing the point of view and ambition to become recognised.
Experience building teams and developing other leaders.
Experience taking commercial responsibility for a client relationship, not just delivery.
Experience across domains and client types; healthcare or complex enterprise software experience is a strong plus.
Clear and effective written and verbal communication with senior stakeholders.
Takes responsibility for outcomes and remains steady under pressure.
Fluent in using AI and designing for AI, with an informed view of design's direction.
Willingness to travel to meet clients in person in the US and attend India events, quarterly leadership offsites, and team co-working weeks.
