Key responsibilities & impact

Designs and develops complex Java applications, microservices and REST APIs
Creates technical designs and breaks work into tasks and estimates
Leads code reviews and enforces coding and security standards
Improves application performance, reliability and maintainability
Troubleshoots and resolves complex production issues
Mentors Java developers and supports their growth
Works with DevOps staff to improve build and deployment pipelines
Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field required
7+ years of Java development experience
Strong experience with Spring Boot, microservices and REST APIs
Experience with SQL and relational databases such as Oracle or Db2
Experience with Git, Maven or Gradle, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Continually required to use common office equipment including but not limited to computers, phones, scanners and printers
Preferred: Experience with containers and cloud platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or Azure
Preferred: Oracle Certified Professional Java certification
Preferred: Experience supporting federal government contracts
