About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review customer orders, technical specifications, datasheets and project requirements for API pump packages
- Verify order indents, BOM requirements and documentation for completeness and technical correctness
- Coordinate with application centers, contract management, project management and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues
- Participate in internal kick-off meetings and provide technical guidance on API requirements and project execution
- Review and approve Pump Quality Control Plans, Inspection & Test Plans and customer documentation requirements
- Ensure correct application of inspection classes, material requirements, NDT requirements and witness points
- Prepare and release accurate pump part lists (BOMs) in SAP
- Manage engineering changes and implement revisions from customer comments, manufacturing feedback and project requirements
- Prepare, review and release manufacturing, assembly, machining and assembly check drawings for API pumps and auxiliaries
- Control revision management and archive engineering documents
- Provide engineering support during manufacturing, assembly and testing
- Investigate and resolve technical issues involving hydraulics, mechanical design, materials, sealing systems, bearings and auxiliary systems
- Support root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions
- Participate in field investigations and customer site visits when required
- Ensure compliance with API 610, API 682, international standards and customer specifications
- Support API pump product development and localization activities
- Coordinate with global engineering centers, testing departments and suppliers for design validation and product improvements
- Evaluate and implement order-specific engineering developments and customer deviations
- Support 3D modelling by providing engineering inputs, drawings and design data
- Review and validate 3D models for manufacturing and assembly compliance
- Participate in component and assembly standardization projects
- Support inventory reduction through component commonization and engineering optimization
- Maintain engineering master data across product lines
- Contribute to digitalization initiatives for engineering and product support processes
- Develop and improve engineering databases, templates and workflows
- Maintain engineering documentation and technical libraries
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering
- 4–8 years of experience in API pump engineering, product support, design or application engineering within the pump industry
- Strong knowledge of API 610 centrifugal pumps
- Working knowledge of API 682 mechanical seal systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, NX/UG or equivalent CAD software
- Working knowledge of SAP MM/PP modules
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials and testing requirements for API pumps
- Ability to read and interpret customer specifications, datasheets and P&IDs
- Experience in engineering and product support of API centrifugal pumps
- Sound understanding of pump hydraulics, rotor dynamics, sealing systems and bearing arrangements
- Knowledge of international standards, codes and customer specifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in cross-functional and global teams
- Strong documentation and technical reporting skills
- Customer-focused approach with ownership and accountability
- Preferred exposure to API 610 BB1, BB2, BB3, BB5 and OH pump product lines
- Preferred exposure to mechanical seal support systems as per API 682
- Preferred exposure to reliability engineering and root cause analysis
- Preferred exposure to customer project execution for Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical and Power sectors
