About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, supervise, and complete multiple client engagements
- Provide finished, complete work products for Principal review
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and their accounting personnel
- Participate in the billing process
- Supervise and train lower-level accountants
- Review individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, trust, and estate tax returns and workpapers
- Apply accounting principles and tax laws while maintaining current regulatory knowledge
- Perform tax research and document conclusions on technical issues
- Identify tax planning opportunities and communicate recommendations to Principals and clients
- Assist with IRS and state tax notices and examinations
- Develop and maintain client relationships through proactive communication and identifying additional service opportunities
- Produce accurate, organized work products and conduct thorough self-reviews
- Monitor engagement budgets, realization, and profitability; communicate scope changes and recommend solutions
- Use KWC technology systems, adopt new applications and processes, and resolve technical issues
- Evaluate and improve processes and solutions through critical thinking
- Supervise, mentor, train, and develop team members
- Recruit, hire, and conduct performance evaluations
- Implement training and identify training opportunities
- Handle corrective action and termination in accordance with firm policies
- Participate in networking and business development activities
- Assist Principals with proposals and new client onboarding
- Perform other assigned tasks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Accounting certificate
- CPA or EA license required
- 5-7 years of public accounting experience in tax, accounting, advisory, or related services
- Previous supervisory experience required
- 2-3 years of experience in a Management role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and business advisory services
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong understanding of U.S. tax regulations
- Knowledge of state and federal tax form processes and accurate form preparation
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks and meet timely obligations with multiple clients
- Knowledge of accounting processes and advanced mathematical skills
- Experience consulting technical tax and accounting resources to resolve complex issues
- Skilled using various accounting software and troubleshooting common accounting program problems
- Professional experience in financial forecasting, budgeting, and risk analysis
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate ownership of work product
- Ability to handle personal and sensitive financial information with integrity
- Occasional non-local travel of no more than 5-10% of the year may be required
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasional lifting of boxes and/or paperwork up to 25 pounds
