About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical support for the sugarbeet quality analysis business within the Business Unit Sugarbeet
  • Work with current and new systems used to sample and measure sugarbeet quality
  • Contribute to KWS BEETROMETER® marketing and sales activities
  • Install NIRS systems at customer sites, including hardware and software, and verify they operate according to specifications
  • Train customers on proper NIRS system operating procedures and processes
  • Collect, process and evaluate customer and research and development samples
  • Validate customer data and analyze data from existing NIRS units
  • Assist with trials for calibration development and testing using Machine Vision and NIRS technology
  • Organize, catalog and ship materials
  • Control project schedules to complete projects on time and within cost estimates
  • Maintain, repair and test equipment
  • Fabricate, test and update prototype equipment
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on further technology development and value creation
  • Provide technical support for other Sugarbeet business projects
  • Support current and new customers
  • Follow company policies, procedures and safety requirements, including correct PPE use
  • Occasionally travel and drive on behalf of the business
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Organizational, planning and creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience in project planning and execution
  • Experience in CAD
  • Computer skills and ability to learn new systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to operate automated equipment and/or hand tools
  • Ability to fabricate equipment, including welding, fabricating and assembly
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
  • Ability to work in the office, outdoors and in a factory environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements
  • Ability to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl as required
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Close, distance, color and peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience in MATLAB preferred
  • Additional language skills, especially German, Spanish and/or French, preferred
