About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage pre-commercial inventory using a WMS and ensure requested seed is returned at the highest quality and correct stage and time
- Manage seed cleaning and treatment processes and the associated team while balancing customer demands and capacities
- Monitor continuous improvement efforts and implement improvement techniques and ideas
- Create training and cross-training programs to maintain a well-balanced team
- Generate, update, and maintain SOPs
- Plan and communicate long-term goals and objectives to team members
- Cross-train with commercial production supervisors to keep processes aligned with changing company processing standards
- Manage quality data, ensure seeds meet or exceed industry standards, and make corrective adjustments when discrepancies occur
- Use a WMS to create, monitor, and close production orders
- Ensure inventory and status accuracy and implement corrective actions to minimize or eliminate discrepancies
- Create production, quality, capacity, and recovery reports
- Participate in production improvement and systems support project teams
- Attend meetings with internal customers and provide updates and progress reports
- Travel and drive on behalf of the business
- Ensure company policies, procedures, safety rules, and PPE requirements are followed
- Meet attendance requirements and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3-5 years of production experience; seed processing experience preferred
- WMS experience strongly desired
- Excellent communication, analytical, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask
- High proficiency using MS Office products, including Excel and Access
- Ability to obtain a forklift certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work varied environmental conditions, including loud, hot, cold, dusty, damp, outdoor, field, and warehouse environments
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays
- Ability to undertake domestic overnight travel as needed
- Must wear required PPE as needed
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 25 pounds and standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
