About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Breeder in optimizing breeding strategies and implementing innovative technologies and breeding methods
  • Plan, execute, evaluate, and document breeding trials in accordance with breeding objectives and procedures
  • Analyze and interpret trial results and contribute to breeding decisions and program recommendations
  • Assist in developing short-term breeding plans and preparing reports to support divisional and corporate decision-making
  • Coordinate the multiplication and maintenance of basic stock seed in collaboration with Production and Stock Seed teams
  • Maintain accurate breeding records and support the implementation of new breeding and data management systems
  • Coordinate breeding activities with technical assistants and crop technicians and provide technical guidance where required
  • Monitor market developments and contribute to translating market needs into breeding objectives
  • Act as a key partner to the Breeder and support the continuity of breeding activities when required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Genetics, Crop Science, or a related field
  • Practical knowledge of plant breeding principles, genetics, and horticultural practices
  • Initial professional experience in plant breeding or agricultural research
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning capabilities
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with data management systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent English language skills
