About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Inspect precision components from in-house manufacture/assembly, subcontractors and suppliers
- Perform first-off inspection for manufactured parts and assemblies
- Prepare first article inspection (FAI) reports for single-level parts and multi-level assemblies
- Update and maintain paperwork associated with inspection procedures
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers when required
- Perform source inspection at suppliers
- Conduct patrol inspection of manufacturing areas
- Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) and dimensional reports
- Liaise with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Design and Production Control to support production requirements
- Support the Calibration Technician and Calibration department
- Publish weekly recall lists and take action
- Locate overdue items and process them according to procedures
- Gather in and calibrate mechanical and electrical equipment
- Obtain quotations, raise purchase orders and arrange calibration of equipment
- Issue gauges to production when required
- Maintain the Gauge Tool Management (GTM) database
- Enter new gauging/equipment on the GTM database and store gauges in the Supply Point System (SPS)
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an inspection, machine shop or calibration environment
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- Good understanding of Mechanical Inspection & Calibration techniques
- Good working knowledge of ISO 9001:2001 and ideally AS9100 Rev D
- PC literate – Word, Excel and database experience
- Manufacturing experience (mechanical)
- Ability to interpret Engineering Drawings
- Ability to interpret Geometric Tolerances
- Calibration experience desirable
- CMM operation / programming experience desirable
- Q-Pulse Software (FAIR) desirable
- Tensile testing experience for Product Quality Testing (PQT) desirable
- Universal Linear Measurement (ULM) equipment experience desirable
- Right to work in the UK
- Eligibility requirements for access to classified information and ability to obtain security clearance may be required
- UK nationality may be required due to the nature of the work
