About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and associated software in a multi-platform environment
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server infrastructure and integrate it with Linux systems
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance
- Implement and oversee security protocols, conduct system backups, and maintain data recovery processes
- Collaborate with network staff to ensure reliable operation of software and systems
- Create and maintain documentation on system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records
- Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
- Automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, or Perl
- Provide technical support and guidance to users and team members
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards
- Deliver adaptable support across multiple programs and locations
- Address foundational networking tasks and troubleshoot end-user issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active CompTIA Security+ certification
- Active security clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and minimum 4 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, minimum 10 years of prior related experience
- Experience with virtualization technologies and container orchestration tools
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Proficiency in automation and configuration management using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Expertise in Windows Server management, including configuration, patching, and performance optimization
- Advanced scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Experience with virtualization platforms (vSphere, KVM, Proxmox, etc.)
- Hands-on Kubernetes experience, including deploying and debugging workloads
- Familiarity with SDN and modern networking (NSX-T, Calico, Cilium, load balancers, TLS)
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible) and automation scripting
- Experience with CI/CD tooling and Git-based workflows (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.)
- Understanding of identity and access management (OIDC, OAuth2, Keycloak or equivalent)
- Experience running stateful or platform components in Kubernetes, including object storage, databases, and registries
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, observability, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with or knowledge of disaster recovery software, exercises, and actual events
- Exceptional problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, mentor junior team members, and adapt to emerging technologies
- Flexibility to participate in on-call rotations and perform after-hours work for critical incidents
- A professional certification in Linux administration is preferred; LPIC, RHCSA, or CompTIA Linux+ are highly desirable
- Familiarity with monitoring tools, backup/recovery solutions, and database systems is preferred
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate and VMware Certified Professional (VCP) are preferred additional skills
