About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manufacture, assemble, and integrate mechanical components into rocket engine and power systems products
- Design and plan component fabrication, assembly, and material-handling layouts
- Plan sequences of operations and specify procedures
- Improve and enhance manufacturing systems and processes
- Manage Lean manufacturing processes, including process certification, Kaizen, 3P, VSM, and other Lean tools
- Prepare, develop, and defend strategic manufacturing plans, risk assessments, and proposals
- Evaluate suppliers based on technical and business capabilities
- Develop rework dispositions and work instructions for components, assemblies, and materials
- Develop and implement manufacturing and assembly process improvements
- Determine tooling requirements, machine loading, setups, and hardware-handling instructions
- Develop and implement welding processes for complex configurations and varied materials
- Support welding tooling and dimensional requirements
- Monitor design, specification, and procedure changes using engineering and business software
- Update MBOMs, work instructions, CNC programs, and special tooling to align engineering and manufacturing configurations
- Support design change reviews
- Determine geometric dimensioning and tolerancing for machining and measurement methods
- Perform risk assessments for personnel, environment, hardware, and facilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience
- OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience
- OR, in lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
- Ability to obtain a US LEVEL Secret Clearance
- Knowledge of Lean methodology and process improvement methods such as Kaizen, 3P, and VSM
- Experience with Creo CAD, Windchill PLM, Oracle MRP & MES, MS Office applications, and/or other CAD/virtual manufacturing tools/software
- Manufacturing engineering experience involving assembly, welding, machining, tooling, and process improvement
- Ability to perform risk assessments and support dimensional requirements
- Small amount of travel may be required depending on assignment
