About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze, design, and integrate L3Harris tactical radio-based communication systems and OEM equipment into unmanned, fixed-wing, rotary, and ground mobile customer assets
- Plan flight events and serve as Remote Pilot in Command for internal tests and customer demonstrations
- Support pursuits and projects from initial concept and technical demonstration through program deliverables
- Produce engineering artifacts including requirements, design documentation, and trade studies
- Perform systems engineering tasks including technical baselines, requirements management, design reviews, validation and verification, implementation, and customer support
- Participate in technical briefings, design reviews, documentation reviews, and technical discussions
- Plan demonstration flights and prepare post-flight after-action reports
- Establish working relationships with engineering project managers, functional teams, and RF and communications subject matter experts
- Collaborate with test, manufacturing, product management, and program management teams on deliverables
- Assess and report technical task status, risks, and issues to engineering management
- Interact directly with customers and end users
- Support domestic and international Systems program travel and pursuits, approximately 30–50%
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or 8 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree
- FAA Part 107 certification
- Experience as a UAS pilot with proficiency in line-of-sight and First-Person View operations for multirotor unmanned platforms ranging from Group 1 to Group 3 UAVs
- Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 107 regulatory requirements
- Proficiency with flight safety procedures, hazard identification, and risk assessment methodologies
- Skill in fixed-wing UAS piloting, mission planning, and operational execution
- Proficiency with Betaflight and ArduPilot flight control systems
- Experience in PID tuning, blackbox log analysis, and flight performance optimization
- Strong technical understanding of UAV systems, including airborne and ground control station components
- Hands-on mechanical assembly experience with UAV platforms and subsystem integration
- Knowledge of electrical systems and integration within unmanned aircraft platforms
- Strong technical documentation, reporting, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt to dynamic and austere environments and operate effectively under pressure
- Experience conducting flight tests and evaluating system performance, reliability, and handling characteristics
- Preferred: experience with L3Harris radio systems, HF/VHF/UHF/SATCOM waveforms, military asset use cases, field engineering, and customer-facing demonstrations
