About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and write funding proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant reports independently and with the Director of Grants
  • Assemble, acquire, and update supporting documents for grant proposals and reports
  • Submit proposals and reports on time to meet deadlines
  • Collaborate with Programs and other teams to align proposals and reports with agency efforts, funding needs, and program priorities
  • Work with Data and Quality Assurance and Finance to ensure contract compliance and accurate grant submissions and reports
  • Maintain proposal submission calendars, grant reporting calendars, and other internal systems
  • Support day-to-day Grants Department operations with the Director of Grants
  • Record grant relationships and history in Salesforce and maintain database integrity
  • Lead project management for public proposal development and submission, including reviewing NOFOs and coordinating cross-departmental materials and appendices
  • Conduct prospect research to identify private foundation, organization, and corporate funding sources
  • Prepare prospecting profiles
  • Grow relationships with and support presentations to potential institutional supporters
  • Occasionally support agency events, communications materials, and donor correspondence
  • Perform additional tasks and projects assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in grant writing, fundraising, or partnership development, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Strong understanding of social services, issues of homelessness, and the population served by LAFH
  • Exceptional writing and copyediting skills
  • Knowledge of grant processes and precision in grant writing
  • Ability to tailor proposals and reports to specific funders
  • Strong research, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to represent and speak about LA Family Housing to external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel; knowledge of Salesforce a plus
  • Understanding of homeless services and affordable housing
  • Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPAA standards
  • Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Able to pass post-offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances
  • Able to work a 9/80 work schedule
  • Able to work a hybrid schedule
  • Comfortable working in a pet-friendly environment
