About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise maintenance and repair programs for all Retail division facilities
- Evaluate vendor diversity selection processes and maintain or improve hiring goals
- Coordinate contractors and suppliers, including construction, security, cleaning, landscaping, moving, painting, electrical, and other trades
- Oversee facility refurbishment and renovation for new stores, remodels, and store requirements
- Assure facility security
- Liaise between Facilities and Real Estate & Construction for new store openings and remodel projects
- Administer vendor and supplier prices and contracts and verify invoices against contract pricing
- Track and analyze costs for materials, equipment, and services
- Establish competitive bidding opportunities and vendor selection processes
- Manage and review service contracts
- Design and seek approval for a company-wide preventive maintenance program for retail stores
- Assist Retail Operations with project and supplier background information
- Improve processes and create efficiencies
- Respond to emergencies and urgent issues, including 24/7 and weekend availability
- Visit retail stores and warehouse properties to address facilities issues and train personnel
- Manage an approximately $6,000,000 budget and coordinate with store management, MSMs, HRMs, IT, Accounting, Legal, Tax, Store Design and Construction, Visuals, Sustainability, vendors, suppliers, landlords, and property managers
- Oversee supply purchasing for La-Z-Boy and Joybird retail stores in the assigned region
- Supervise up to 2 direct reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field, with 6–8 years of relevant experience or equivalent
- 5+ years supervisory/leadership experience
- Knowledge of contracts, lease terms, and legalese
- Knowledge of basic repair terminology and functions for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and energy management
- Knowledge of LEED certification requirements
- Ability to prioritize and organize
- Excellent project management skills
- Up to 25% travel
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Creative and innovative problem-solving skills
- Experience with construction projects and interaction with contractors
- Retail experience preferred
- LEED Certification preferred
- Ability to meet the qualifications in the company’s Driver Management Program, if travel/driving is required
- Availability for 24/7 and weekend emergencies
