About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee daily Project Initiation operations and lead the team toward organizational goals
  • Serve as the first point of contact for management issues related to setup of new or amended clinical trials
  • Coordinate with internal functional departments on database setup and study needs
  • Maintain communication with directors and managers regarding operational changes
  • Evaluate process flows and identify improvement opportunities
  • Create or oversee training materials, templates, job aids, and SOPs
  • Implement lessons learned and process changes across Project Initiation and impacted departments
  • Develop tools to monitor process effectiveness and support evaluation initiatives
  • Ensure new clinical test procedures and IT database validations are completed and acceptable before specimen receipt and reporting
  • Assist with interviewing and hiring Project Initiation staff
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and departmental metrics reporting
  • Directly supervise Project Initiation team members as needed
  • Assign clinical trial protocols to meet quality and timeline requirements
  • Mentor and train new team members
  • Coach, develop, and retain associates through performance management and career development
  • Perform additional related tasks supporting departmental and organizational goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university with minimum of 5 years’ setup-related and/or project management experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a substitute for the specified education and experience
  • Experience in customer service
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, planning, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Listening and verbal comprehension skills, including translating client needs to team members
  • Ability to make well-thought-out decisions and adapt to changing environments and requirements
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to adhere to established timelines, processes, and procedures
  • Customer service/client relationship management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures
  • Ability to write business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Ability to present information and respond to managers’ and clients’ questions
