About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the multi-year technical strategy for Lambda's networking software roadmap covering backend GPU fabric, frontend networks, backbone, edge, and related tools, software, and services
  • Set technical direction and standards for engineering design, development, and operations
  • Own high-level technical relationships with enterprise customers and guide mission-critical projects
  • Influence across teams using high-quality technical judgment
  • Resolve technical ambiguity across network, hardware, platform, and product teams
  • Work hands-on in code, networks, and customer use cases to solve difficult problems
  • Drive technical work end to end, from vision and high- and low-level design through delivery
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews and hiring
  • Operate built systems, including day-2 operations and the on-call rotation
  • Serve as senior technical voice with largest customers and incorporate learnings into Lambda's roadmap
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer availability and performance and develop new products

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years in relevant domains like cloud computing, systems engineering, and large-scale network infrastructure
  • Experience of design, build and operation of production large scale Data Center or Cloud networks
  • Experience building distributed network systems and services at scale
  • Experience of design, build and operation of Tier 1 software defined networking services
  • Have led through implementation and launch of large production-scale software services projects
  • Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions
  • Fully and completely understand system inter-dependencies and limitations
  • Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices
  • Have experience with cloud providers networking (such as AWS, GCP, OCI)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Nice to have: Knowledge of HPC/AI networking, including RoCEv2, InfiniBand, GPUDirect RDMA, and collective communication at scale
  • Nice to have: Experience with network characteristics of large distributed training workloads
  • Nice to have: Experience with software defined networking
  • Nice to have: Familiarity with network monitoring and telemetry
  • Nice to have: General awareness of datacenter, backbone, internet protocols and technology
  • Must be able and willing to work onsite at the Bellevue or San Francisco office 4 days a week
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
