About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support and grow the livestock and lifestyle product portfolio
- Drive product demand and market share by introducing feed products and programs
- Conduct up to 25 farm or facility visits weekly to assess feeding programs and recommend Purina-backed solutions
- Call on horse and companion animal owners, with a primary focus on equine, to evaluate and recommend nutritional programs
- Network across livestock and lifestyle animal industries to share best practices and create new business opportunities
- Manage and grow an existing book of business with established customer relationships and immediate sales opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with dealer/co-op teams and Purina experts
- Develop expertise in Purina's research, innovation, and sustainability
- Organize and lead educational events and on-site demonstrations
- Operate autonomously in a flexible, remote work environment while managing territory, schedule, and customer relationships
- Coordinate product strategy, marketing initiatives, product launches, and field events with cross-functional teams
- Participate in team meetings and sales training
- Implement sales strategies and collaborate with peers for continuous improvement
- Use CRM systems such as Salesforce and technology tools such as Power BI to record activities and inform business decisions
- Provide exceptional customer service
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field strongly desired
- Candidates with a pending bachelor's degree or proven sales and industry experience may be considered
- 0–3 years of experience
- Strong interest in livestock care and agricultural products
- Customer service or sales support experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Willingness to travel within the territory
- 5–10% overnight travel plus daily travel in assigned geography
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and navigate a matrix-reporting structure
- Strong organization and effective time management
- Relationship-building ability and leadership in team environments
- Ability to make multiple daily sales calls
- Ability to engage in on-farm interactions, including animal evaluations, in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to deliver effective public speaking presentations
