About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with putting in test plots and conducting field work in research plots
- Identify weeds and evaluate weed control
- Identify insects and perform scouting techniques
- Maintain product inventory
- Mix pesticides for research trials
- Input data collected from research trials and evaluate research trials
- Keep a clean and safe work environment
- Help perform general maintenance on equipment
- Participate in directed training activities
- Perform daily activities with high integrity
- Work at field locations in River Falls, Wisconsin
- Travel as required throughout the internship
Requirements
What you’ll need- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferably in an agricultural related major or program
- Must be able to obtain Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator License by start date or within 2 weeks of hire
- Ability to work extended hours and periodically stay overnight
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to drive various types of vehicles in variable road and weather conditions
- Ability to work while wearing application equipment and personal protective equipment
- Willingness to learn regional crop growth and development
- Basic math skills and attention to detail
- Ability to deliver results without direct supervision
- Ability to manage time and prioritize work tasks
- Resourceful and innovative problem-solving ability
- Ability to frequently move, lift, and carry boxes, tubs, and tools weighing 50–60 lbs.
- Ability to access and utilize farm equipment and traverse uneven ground
- Technical knowledge in agronomy, ag technology, and crop sciences preferred
- Farm background work experience and/or agribusiness work experience preferred but not essential
- Must be able to live near the River Falls, WI area throughout employment
- Must be able to travel throughout the internship
