About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate the design, installation and start-up of process control, network, electrical, plant construction and process equipment projects
  • Support Feed Manufacturing Operations and other business units across several manufacturing plants
  • Develop project scopes and drive process improvements with the Region Director of Manufacturing, International Business Teams and Plant Managers
  • Perform project and process design
  • Prepare capital and expense estimates
  • Select contractors
  • Specify and purchase equipment
  • Develop implementation timelines and coordinate implementation plans
  • Recommend methods and standard operating practices for safe and effective control, process optimization and meeting product specifications
  • Focus on PLC equipment and processes
  • Collaborate with plant operators on the processing floor
  • Commission, install and implement projects, including installations of up to three weeks
  • Provide training and refine operations improvements across all shifts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in engineering with concentration in Mechanical, Agricultural, Food, Industrial, Feed Process Engineering or related degree
  • 10+ years related work experience
  • Technical processing expertise in Animal Feed, Food or related industries
  • Working knowledge of mechanical or agricultural engineering and processing plants and equipment
  • Experience developing and refining process equipment projects and managing construction projects
  • Knowledge of grain or food processing systems
  • Project management and process improvement experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cost initiatives
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe/Bluebeam, AutoCAD and SKM
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with plant operators and understand equipment variables and operations
  • Ability to identify root causes and develop fact-based solutions
  • Ability to work 50% to 75% travel, including weekends and exposure to all shifts
  • 2 years commissioning, reliability and/or maintenance experience preferred
  • Plant design background preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of food/animal feed processing plant and technology preferred
  • Allen-Bradley PLC (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix) and HMI (FactoryTalk View ME/SE) coding and implementation experience preferred
  • Allen Bradley VFD and SMC Soft Start control and configuration preferred
  • Basic CISCO switch configuration and troubleshooting preferred
  • Process Control and Electrical documentation creation and management preferred
  • Ability to work in manufacturing facilities with typical levels of dust and noise
