About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a regional team selling Landis+Gyr's AMI and software/solutions portfolio directly to utilities
  • Create the regional sales strategy and lead planning, organization, implementation, and execution of the sales plan
  • Manage the regional budget and forecasting to achieve assigned revenue goals
  • Manage Key Account Executives and Strategic Sales Directors
  • Help drive the business development strategy
  • Research and analyze competitive conditions, customer needs, and market trends
  • Design strategies to capitalize on market opportunities
  • Communicate Landis+Gyr's value proposition, technology, and product differentiation
  • Set expectations, hold direct reports and front-line managers accountable, and mentor sales staff
  • Build consultative selling capability and process
  • Sponsor and ensure effective sales training and consistent guidance on pricing, procedures, and communication
  • Build coaching capability, develop senior sellers and future front-line managers, and inspect coaching quality
  • Run regional pipeline, forecast, and deal reviews; maintain commit accuracy and stage hygiene
  • Own regional pipeline health and generation and set coverage expectations
  • Build the leadership bench through role profiles, structured interviewing, onboarding, career paths, and succession plans
  • Develop talent through individualized development plans, skill-gap diagnosis, and stretch assignments
  • Translate regional strategy into territory, account, and resource decisions
  • Lead cross-functional partners supporting major opportunities
  • Communicate regional performance, risks, and resource needs to executive leadership
  • Establish relationships with key customers and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Drive Landis+Gyr presence at key sales events
  • Resolve customer requests, complaints, problems, and executive-level escalations
  • Coach Key Account Executives and Strategic Sales Directors through the sales cadence
  • Ensure CRM data quality and reporting discipline
  • Own overall pricing strategy and oversee customer contracts with contracts and legal partners
  • Keep management informed of sales activities, competitive changes, impediments, and significant problems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years relevant field sales experience; utility industry strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of sales team management
  • Experience leading through other leaders, or building and scaling a repeatable sales operating rhythm, preferred
  • Experience in software sales preferred
  • Experience selling technical solutions and/or systems in a business-to-business environment; software sales experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of distribution utility system
  • Ability to think strategically and plan over a 1–2 year timespan
  • Strong leadership and coaching capability
  • Ability to develop other leaders, coaching them to coach, and hold them accountable to consistent standards
  • Analytical mindset
  • Ability to increase existing and new customer sales for all products and services
  • Ability to develop new and strategic accounts through effective planning and execution
  • Strong presentation, written, electronic, and telephone communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
  • Relationship management skills and ability to quickly address customer issues
