About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for meter maintenance in the utility's service area
  • Investigate and troubleshoot energized electric and gas meter conditions
  • Install electric meters or gas modules on energized equipment
  • Change batteries in residential gas modules
  • Install antennas
  • Perform Link Assessment Testing
  • Perform Walkup Reads and serve as a stand-in for Mobile Meter Reader
  • Provide residential electric and gas emergency assistance
  • Contribute to monthly safety meetings and adhere to QHSE guidelines
  • Maintain safety equipment and stock field-work materials
  • Support and adhere to company values, Code of Conduct, and Ethics Policy
  • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Represent the company professionally with internal and external customers
  • Report and correct QHSE violations
  • Perform daily vehicle safety maintenance reviews
  • Participate in cross-training with analysts, RF Technicians, and Cross Dock Technicians
  • Travel to and from destinations as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred trade school education in electric or gas
  • Basic understanding of gas and electric theory and metering
  • Ability to work on gas meters close to ground level
  • Ability to work on electric meters at various heights
  • Ability to work wearing safety equipment
  • Ability to work on ladders and in inclement weather
  • Ability to work with mechanical and manual tools and maintain company vehicle
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Valid driver's license must be possessed and maintained
  • Personal computer knowledge
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Keyboard/typing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to reason and make decisions based on directions
  • Flexibility with work schedules, including Saturday work
  • Ability to report and correct QHSE violations
  • Ability to perform daily vehicle safety maintenance reviews
  • Ability to participate in cross-training with analysts, RF Technicians, and Cross Dock Technicians
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle, follow traffic laws, and travel as required
  • Ability to stand, walk, crouch, handle objects, lift or move up to 10 pounds, and sit at a computer for long periods
  • Ability to see, hear, and speak in English
  • Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hats, work boots, gloves, and hearing protection
