About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the finance business partnering service for Communities, Adults and Health
  • Support significant and complex budgets, including Adult Social Care, Public Health and Community Services
  • Work closely with Directors, Members and senior leaders
  • Provide strategic financial advice and support financial sustainability
  • Support transformational change and help shape future service delivery
  • Contribute to the Council’s overall financial strategy as part of the Finance Leadership Team
  • Lead a high-performing team
  • Deliver excellent financial stewardship and value for money
  • Support service areas in making sound financial decisions and using resources sustainably

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Fully qualified CCAB accountant, preferably CIPFA
  • Significant post-qualification experience in a senior finance leadership role
  • Extensive knowledge of local government finance, governance and statutory requirements
  • Strong understanding of challenges facing Communities, Adults and Health services
  • Proven track record of medium-term financial planning, budget setting, forecasting and financial recovery within a large and complex organisation
  • Ability to provide strategic financial advice, challenge and insight to senior leaders
  • Experience developing high-performing teams and driving continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to translate complex financial issues into clear, practical advice
  • Subject to qualification and registration checks, right-to-work checks, DBS checks, credit checks, social media, sanctions and occupational health screening
