About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Turn data, research and local insight into robust, accessible intelligence that improves population health and reduces health inequalities
- Analyse and interpret complex quantitative and qualitative information to inform strategy, commissioning, policy, service improvement and public health action
- Apply epidemiological, statistical, research and geospatial methods to understand population need, outcomes, service use and wider determinants of health
- Contribute to the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment and other needs assessments
- Conduct health equity audits, health impact assessments and programme evaluations
- Produce performance reporting and public health intelligence products
- Source, manage, quality assure and analyse data
- Identify trends, variation and gaps in evidence
- Present balanced findings and actionable recommendations
- Work with public health specialists, analysts, commissioners, services and partners to define analytical questions and select appropriate methods
- Explain uncertainty, limitations and conflicting evidence to specialist and non-specialist audiences
- Help colleagues use intelligence confidently and appropriately
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience may be in public health, local government, the NHS, research, academia or another analytical environment
- Recent graduates or early-career analysts with strong analytical skills and a genuine interest in population health and reducing inequalities are welcomed
- Comfortable working with data and evidence, asking questions, identifying patterns and drawing meaningful conclusions
- Able to explain findings clearly to specialist and non-specialist audiences
- Able to work collaboratively with colleagues from different professional backgrounds
- Passion for learning and commitment to high-quality analysis
- Interest in using data, research and intelligence to improve outcomes for residents and communities
- Subject to safeguarding and safer recruitment checks, which may include AI detection screening, biometric ID/right to work checks, qualification and registration checks, employment data checks, employment history references, DBS checks, credit checks, social media and sanctions screening, and occupational health screening
- Must demonstrate suitability during the four-month probationary period
