About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as liaison between the partner, client, and professional staff.
  • Supervise multiple audits, agreed-upon procedures, or attestations through report issuance and presentation.
  • Manage all phases of engagements, including planning, staff supervision, and financial statement review.
  • Prepare and/or review accompanying tax returns.
  • Adhere to and manage engagement time budgets.
  • Review engagement letters for partner approval.
  • Prepare client invoices, communicate fees, and assist with overdue account collection.
  • Ensure financial statements and management letters comply with professional, firm, and GAAP standards.
  • Maintain year-round client contact and thorough knowledge of client businesses.
  • Keep partners informed of engagement developments; analyze problems and recommend solutions.
  • Communicate engagement progress, problems, and resolutions to clients.
  • Conduct or supervise technical research on ambiguous GAAP matters and ensure timely adoption of GAAP/GAAS rules.
  • Supervise, train, evaluate, and provide feedback to staff.
  • Review staff work papers, reports, internal controls, work programs, assignments, and budgets.
  • Write or assist with proposals for new clients.
  • Build community and business-professional networks and attend business development activities.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Current CPA license in good standing with AICPA required.
  • At least 5-7 years’ experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of auditing, scope of engagement, and number of engagements managed simultaneously. OR 10-12 years of comparable industry experience (audit-related).
  • Knowledge of GAAP, SASs, and GAAS.
  • Proficiency in use of accounting software programs such as CCH Engagement, RIA Checkpoint, Microsoft Excel a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring in new business and build network.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English orally and in writing with clients, partners and peers.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently supervise team members.
  • Ability to identify, research and resolve accounting and auditing issues encountered on an engagement.
