About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct complex operations and management studies using operations research principles and methods
- Define research problems, gather and validate data, select analytical methods, and apply modeling and simulation techniques
- Assess alternatives and make recommendations to management
- Draw and interpret data from operational and financial sources and improve data quality
- Develop and participate in implementation of asset management data storage solutions
- Develop predictive and reliability-centered maintenance programs, economic and fiscal forecasts, and long-term asset management strategies
- Develop life-cycle models for facilities repair and replacement decisions
- Draft plans, position papers, research reports and other documents
- Plan, administer and potentially supervise program processes, procedures and initiatives
- Conduct best-practice, benchmarking, management analysis and research studies
- Generate statistical data and assist engineering staff with project contracts
- Coordinate information systems needs, data and applications issues, and user acceptance testing
- Provide technical assistance on complex analytical matters
- Coordinate programs with divisions, departments, agencies, vendors, consultants and community groups
- Provide day-to-day leadership and apply process improvement and quality management principles
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in operations management, economics, statistics, engineering or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Six years of professional experience performing operations research and management, process engineering or similar studies
- Knowledge of advanced operations research and process engineering principles, optimization analysis, database design and management, economic/statistical/modeling techniques, analytical software, benchmarking, operational auditing, project planning and business communications
- Ability to analyze complex operational and work process issues and varied data from multiple sources
- Ability to use statistical formulae, analytical tools, word processing, graphics and database software
- Ability to lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams
- Ability to prepare reports, presentations and written materials
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet critical deadlines
- A valid Nevada driver's license and ability to maintain insurability may be required for certain assignments
- Experience with water operations, asset and maintenance management, operational data analysis, SCADA, maintenance management systems, Power BI, Aveva Historian and enterprise databases
- Experience conducting user acceptance testing (UAT) is highly desirable
- Successful completion of drug screening and background check; a job-related physical evaluation may also be required
