About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the scientific authority on ground truth for immunology benchmarks
- Test whether AI agents can reason like expert immunologists
- Turn real immunology workflows into tasks with clear answers, including immune profiling, vaccine immunogenicity, T- and B-cell responses, inflammation and autoimmunity readouts, and immune cell engineering
- Write gold-standard answers from raw data with tolerances reflecting donor, assay, and gating variability
- Curate flow and spectral cytometry, single-cell and CITE-seq, TCR/BCR repertoires, cytokine panels, serology and neutralization titers, and ELISpot data
- Distinguish real biology from doublets, spillover populations, batch effects, and sampling-depth artifacts
- Evaluate immunogenicity versus protection, activation versus exhaustion, and mouse findings versus human relevance
- Challenge AI conclusions that would not survive expert review
- Identify where agents fail, what an expert would do instead, and what evidence would change the conclusion
- Reward explicit uncertainty over confident guesses
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to build benchmark tasks and datasets
- Start on a team aligned with expertise and potentially move across teams based on performance
Requirements
What you’ll need- PhD in immunology, vaccinology, or a related field
- Deep expertise in at least one of: vaccine development, T/B cell or innate immune biology, autoimmunity, cancer immunology, inflammation, or immune cell engineering, demonstrated through peer-reviewed work or industry programs
- Experience personally analyzing immune data using FlowJo, R, Python, or similar
- Industry experience preferred
- Experience using Claude, ChatGPT, or similar, with judgment to identify technically correct but scientifically wrong answers
- Strong domain confidence to overrule an AI agent and openness to update when shown wrong
- For US employment: eligibility for full-time W-2 employment
- Work authorization support available through H-1B, O-1, TN, and STEM OPT sponsorship
