About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in preparing and executing US payrolls, including multi-state payroll processing, payroll tax administration and compliance activities
  • Provide secondary support for UK, APAC and EOR payrolls as required
  • Input and verify payroll data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, deductions and benefits
  • Support federal, state and local payroll tax reporting, year-end reporting, reconciliations and statutory reporting
  • Maintain compliance with US payroll legislation, wage and hour requirements, tax regulations and internal payroll controls
  • Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 administration, tax reporting, reconciliations and audit requests
  • Administer payroll for EOR populations in partnership with external providers
  • Maintain payroll records and data integrity across systems
  • Prepare payroll reports and analytics for Finance, HR, Tax and Leadership
  • Support payroll system operations and HRIS/finance integrations, including Workday
  • Assist with system upgrades, testing and automation initiatives
  • Identify process improvements, implement internal controls and document standardised procedures
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies, errors and process issues
  • Respond to employee payroll queries and collaborate with HR, Finance, vendors, tax providers and EOR partners
  • Support strategic initiatives and special projects, including finance system implementations, global payroll provider transitions and business case development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong understanding of US payroll operations, including multi-state payroll processing, federal, state and local payroll taxes, wage and hour legislation, and payroll compliance requirements
  • Experience administering payroll deductions including garnishments, benefits and tax-related adjustments
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with payroll systems; Workday and ADP preferred
  • Ability to analyse data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data entry, calculations and documentation
  • Proactive approach to identifying issues, investigating discrepancies, recommending solutions, solving problems and improving processes
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workload, priorities and multiple payroll deadlines
  • Experience working in a controlled, compliance-focused environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Service-oriented mindset focused on employee experience
  • Hands-on experience processing US payrolls, ideally across multiple states
  • Knowledge of US payroll tax legislation, compliance requirements and year-end processes, including W-2 reporting
  • Experience working with Employer of Record providers such as Deel, Remofirst and Hyer highly desirable
  • Exposure to international payrolls (UK, APAC, EMEA) advantageous
  • Experience supporting payroll audits, reconciliations and compliance activities
