About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the test strategy from test plans through launch sign-off
Prioritize testing by risk and business impact
Test Shopify storefront product and listing pages, search and filters, cart and checkout, promotions, navigation, content, wishlist, and consent
Test ERP and inventory feeds, order management, store fulfillment, marketplace orders, search and merchandising, customer data and POS, payments, gift cards, fraud tools, and middleware
Validate data movement between systems through APIs and S3/SFTP file transfers
Reconcile transaction logs
Distinguish defects from work pending on other teams or vendors
Maintain an accurate defect list
Serve as QA point of contact for client stakeholders and developers
Provide a weekly QA status report
Lead and support the QA team
Manage test cases in TestRail
Track defects and QA work in Jira and Confluence
Build end-to-end test automation, preferably with Playwright, when ready
Use AI tools such as Claude to draft test cases and carefully review outputs

Requirements

What you’ll need

Hands-on experience testing Shopify stores, including cart, checkout, and promotions
Integration testing on enterprise commerce programs involving ERP, order management, or middleware
API testing experience using Postman or similar
Experience with file-based data feeds
Working grasp of version control, CI/CD, and native vs. headless Shopify
Hands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium
Experience owning quality as the main or only QA on a project
Experience deciding what to test first and triaging defects
Clear written and spoken English communication with developers, client stakeholders, and leadership
Regular use of AI in QA work
Openness to completing a Claude certification during onboarding
Availability to work Eastern Time business hours
Nice to have: formal QA leadership, retail systems, agency experience, headless Shopify/Hydrogen, accessibility testing basics
Ability to accept a fixed-term 6-month contract
Ability to work hours aligned to Eastern Time or Pacific Time
