About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide advanced health care to individuals, families or groups as an advanced or expert clinician
  • Assess complex acute, critical and chronically ill patients for urgent and emergent conditions
  • Evaluate physiologic instability and formulate plans of care
  • Perform therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute and critical health problems
  • Analyze indications, contraindications, complication risks and cost-benefits of therapeutic interventions
  • Manage, evaluate, modify and document plans of care according to patient response
  • Manage changes in condition and optimize patient outcomes
  • Incorporate health promotion, health protection and injury prevention into care plans
  • Facilitate patient transitions between and within health care settings
  • Serve as an educational resource to patients, families, nursing staff and provider teams
  • Consult with multidisciplinary health care team members
  • Participate in scholarly activities, research and education
  • Maintain required competencies and pursue professional development
  • Act as a preceptor and mentor for nurses, APPs, students and other health care providers
  • Promote patient safety, report safety issues and errors, and support practice improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree from an approved Acute or Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program - required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association
  • Acute or Critical Care Nurse Practitioner Certification or Physician Assistant Certification
  • Registered Nursing License (RN) from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
  • OR Physician Assistant (PA) - Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Full-time rotating shifts
  • 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday rotation
  • Proof of citizenship or immigration status required to verify lawful right to work in the United States
