About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Schedule patients for services with appropriate providers and locations
  • Greet patients, guests, and family members
  • Analyze patient information and create or activate patient accounts
  • Register patients and maintain accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information
  • Resolve work queue errors
  • Collect and validate forms, identification, insurance cards, orders, and authorization information
  • Perform insurance eligibility verification and admission notifications
  • Complete provider messages using the In-Basket messaging system
  • Update the Electronic Medical Record with patient account information
  • Analyze financial responsibility and inform patients of copayments, balances, estimates, and assistance programs
  • Collect payments at the point of service and meet registration collection goals
  • Provide customer service, answer and transfer calls, and give directions
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments
  • Balance cash drawers and prepare end-of-shift cash reports
  • Process debit/credit adjustments and report unreconciled monies or deposits
  • Follow facility cash drawer and LCMC requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and functional areas
  • Ability to gather and disseminate information to a diverse range of people
  • Basic prioritization, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle several tasks and interruptions positively
  • Excellent decision-making skills and sound judgment in difficult situations
  • Good analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in computers
  • Proof of citizenship or immigration status required to verify lawful right to work in the United States
