About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the growth of LEA's Bridge Sector through client engagement, business development, and pursuit of opportunities
  • Promote LEA's expertise and services to current and potential clients
  • Lead business development activities and expand LEA's market presence across Ontario
  • Lead preparation and submission of RFQs, RFIs, RFPs, and other procurement submissions
  • Act as primary client contact and manage long-term client relationships
  • Monitor client satisfaction and ensure contractual obligations and commitments are met
  • Represent LEA at industry events, client meetings, and professional associations
  • Lead design of new transportation infrastructure, including bridges, culverts, and retaining walls
  • Lead rehabilitation of existing structures, including structural modelling and analysis
  • Review design drawings for accuracy, completeness, standards compliance, and project requirements
  • Act as Design Lead on complex bridge and structural engineering projects
  • Provide technical and project leadership, guidance, and mentorship to project and technical staff
  • Act as Senior Project Manager, Project Lead, or Key Individual as required
  • Lead internal and external project meetings and resolve technical and design-related challenges
  • Monitor project progress, schedules, and budgets
  • Identify project risks and issues and implement mitigation strategies
  • Promote health and safety compliance and mitigate workplace hazards
  • Oversee quality management activities and project quality reviews
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and standards
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the Structures Division

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in bridge and structural engineering, and project management or coordination activities
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and membership in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Eligible for registration in the MTO Registry, Appraisal and Qualification System (RAQS) under one or more Bridge Engineering categories
  • Demonstrated experience leading the design, rehabilitation, and evaluation of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation structures
  • Experience acting as Design Lead, Project Manager, Project Lead, or Key Individual on routine and complex transportation infrastructure projects
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in business development, proposal preparation, client relationship management, and project pursuits
  • Experience coordinating with MTO stakeholders, navigating project approvals, and managing consultant and contractor teams
  • Strong knowledge of CSA S6 (CHBDC), CSA A23, CSA S16, OBC, OPSS, and MTO Structural and Rehabilitation Manuals
  • Proficiency with SAP2000, MIDAS Civil, CSiBridge, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements in bridge projects
  • Established relationships within the Ontario transportation infrastructure market, particularly in Northern Ontario, considered a strong asset
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering considered an asset
