About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Engage with and support the Communications Department's external communications across owned, earned, and social media
- Assist in drafting and distributing blog posts, press statements and releases, social media copy, graphics, and the weekly tipsheet
- Load content to LCV websites and assist with website projects
- Distribute LCV's daily news clips to staff across the country
- Maintain press lists
- Gather content at press events
- Pitch press as needed
- Center racial justice and equity in communications and ensure cultural competence in materials
- Track and distribute daily news articles mentioning LCV and state affiliates
- Assist with writing and distributing the weekly press tipsheet
- Draft culturally competent communications materials reflecting environmental justice and democracy priorities
- Coordinate and collect content at events
- Upload blogs and press statements to LCV's website
- Coordinate and test website projects
- Help maintain photo and video libraries
- Participate in the Spring 2027 internship cohort, including a Capstone project, informational interviews, training, and discussions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Applicants must be located in and legally authorized to work in the United States
- Applicants must reside in the United States
- Preferred: Communications coursework, work experience, extracurriculars, or experience with social media
- Highly organized
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Strong research skills
- Solid judgment
- Critical thinking skills
- Able to work independently and as a team
- Able to handle multiple tasks
- Self-starter
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
- Preferred: Experience with press, graphic design, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Canva, or social media
- Preferred: Experience with WordPress or other website content management systems and Google Analytics
- Demonstrated awareness of how life experiences influence personal attitudes, biases, and assumptions
- Demonstrated commitment to continual learning and ability to successfully deliver culturally responsive services
- Commitment to equity and inclusion as organizational practice and culture
- Understanding of how environmental issues intersect with racism, economic and social inequality in the U.S.
- Passion for working to dismantle racist, economic, and social inequality systems
- Commitment to environmental protection and the mission of LCV
