About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support, implement, and develop Ignition standards, pipelines, databases, and interfaces globally across Lear
- Design, develop, test, and support HMI and SCADA applications on the Ignition platform
- Interface applications with process instrumentation, PLCs, enterprise data pipelines, and OITs across manufacturing plants
- Build reliable solutions with senior engineers, plant operations, maintenance, and IT
- Deploy applications to the plant floor and support end users adopting new tools
- Assume responsibility for projects and complete them on time while meeting requirements
- Work with team members and clients to create and implement solutions
- Write Named Queries and support database design and integration with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other databases
- Contribute reusable component libraries and scripts across Gateway, Designer, and Client scopes using version control
- Support commissioning, FAT/SAT, on-site deployment, and end-user training
- Troubleshoot production issues and assist with performance tuning, backup, and redundancy
- Create and maintain functional specifications, system diagrams, and as-built documentation
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and clients
- Identify process improvements and implement efficiency and productivity solutions
- Keep current with Ignition developments and integrate relevant updates into projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
- 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience developing and deploying Ignition SCADA applications (Perspective and/or Vision)
- Working experience with Ignition 8.x
- Working knowledge of SQL and Python/Jython scripting
- Working knowledge of Ignition Expression Language
- Familiarity with JSON, CSS, and JavaScript for Perspective development
- Ability to create Perspective displays for desktop and mobile users
- Experience connecting Ignition to varied data sources and equipment
- Understanding of ISA-18.2 alarm management and alarm notification in Ignition
- Ability to develop reports supporting compliance and production needs
- Strong troubleshooting skills and willingness to learn new technologies
- Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining technical topics to non-technical users
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage priorities across multiple projects
- Collaborative team player who listens to user needs and asks thoughtful questions
- Familiarity with Jira, MS Project, or Excel
- Willingness to travel up to 30%, including occasional international trips
- Ignition Core or Gold certification, or Inductive University coursework (preferred)
- Exposure to OPC UA, Modbus TCP/RTU, MQTT/Sparkplug B, or REST API integrations (preferred)
- Basic understanding of ISA-95/ISA-88, industrial cybersecurity (ISA/IEC 62443), and IT/OT networking (preferred)
- Ability to read PLC logic in Ladder or Structured Text (preferred)
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (preferred)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
