About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide people and delivery leadership for Learnosity's Platform team
- Lead Platform engineers through 1:1s, performance and career development, team health and engagement, capacity and workload, hiring and onboarding, and performance or behavioural issue resolution
- Own the Platform backlog as product owner, ensuring prioritisation, scoping, visibility and delivery against agreed outcomes
- Manage dependencies and trade-offs across projects, operational work and technical maintenance
- Translate the SVP of Technology's strategy into a prioritised platform roadmap
- Make final platform technology decisions and break ties under delegated authority
- Partner with CloudOps on monitoring, alerting, recovery, support expectations, access, runbooks and handover criteria
- Represent the Platform team with Engineering, Product and other stakeholders
- Communicate priorities, progress, risks, dependencies and escalations
- Ensure consistent engineering standards and effective quality delivery practices across a distributed team
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7–10 years of engineering experience, including 2–3 years leading or managing engineers
- Experience leading distributed teams across multiple locations and time zones
- Ownership of a delivery backlog and roadmap: prioritisation, scoping, and translating strategy into a plan
- Decisive technical judgement and ability to resolve competing technical opinions and make final decisions
- Collaborative, consultative leadership style, with ability to coach, grow and manage engineer performance
- Strong communication and stakeholder management across technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong platform or infrastructure engineering background
- Deep, hands-on AWS (EC2, ECS, RDS, networking)
- Containerised environments (Docker / ECS)
- Observability (Datadog, CloudWatch)
- Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD (CloudFormation, Troposphere or Terraform; GitHub Actions or Jenkins)
- Strong Python for automation and platform tooling
- Must have the right to live and work in Australia
