About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute and implement diverse health and safety programs
- Conduct work-area inspections and meet with field supervisors to identify potential problems
- Ensure adequate supplies of safety equipment, including protective equipment, fire extinguishers, and respirators
- Advise operations regarding Ledcor's Health and Safety Management System throughout the project lifecycle
- Monitor compliance with jurisdictional regulatory requirements
- Coordinate and complete safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, focus audits, and incident investigations
- Verify compliance with leading and lagging indicators, including subcontractors and corrective actions
- Conduct HS&E orientation for employees and subcontractors during project onboarding
- Support site leadership in preparing safety-meeting and toolbox-talk materials
- Coordinate, organize, and deliver project toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Develop and enhance Job Hazard Analysis and Safe Work Practice documents
- Monitor and report on implementation effectiveness of project HS&E plans
- Audit field-level hazard assessments and incident investigation reports
- Assist with occupational hygiene practices and maintain awareness of medical screening programs
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of related work experience within the oil & gas industry
- Must hold a CRSP, Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or NCSO designation
- Technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment within the Oil & Gas Industries
- Ability to communicate and present information to the hourly workforce and interact with project management staff, clients, and customers
- Ability to provide a proactive approach to safety, identify operational and organizational issues, and develop and implement strategies to solve them
- Experience in risk assessment, program development, safety & health training, and accident investigation
- Ability to adapt information/style to the audience, explain difficult information clearly, influence, and persuade others towards consensus agreement
- Strong team player attitude with ability to adjust to changing priorities and demands
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Strong computer competency including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license and driver's abstract
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
- Flexibility to travel to and work at various project sites
