About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze project costs and provide insights supporting strategic decision-making
- Implement and maintain cost control systems to keep projects within budget
- Understand and communicate key commercial terms of project contracts
- Report project financials and interpretations to leadership
- Contribute to developing and implementing collective agreements affecting project costs
- Collect and submit documentation, including statutory declarations and WCB clearance letters, for invoicing
- Prepare and submit Letters of Engagement/Monthly Invoices to clients according to contract terms
- Gather third-party invoices for accurate and timely client billing
- Prepare and submit monthly equipment rental billings and progress invoices
- Manage holdback releases
- Process and reconcile electronic billing submissions with client billing systems
- Handle accounts receivable, subcontract administration, payroll, equipment time entry, accounts payable, month-end activities, financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis
- Collaborate with project and operational leadership to ensure accurate, complete, and actionable financial data
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Post-secondary business degree required
- Experience within commercial construction, Telecom, or a related industry preferred
- Knowledge of JD Edwards or a similar large ERP preferred
- Working knowledge of construction methods
- Financial acumen regarding equipment utilization, rates, equipment capital decisions, and profitability analysis
- Working knowledge of construction accounting principles
- Working knowledge of construction software systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States
