About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute sourcing strategies for raw materials, including commodities, ingredients, oils, sweeteners, and proteins, in partnership with Procurement Leadership
- Support development of category strategies aligned with cost, quality, service, and risk objectives
- Manage day-to-day purchasing activity for assigned categories and co-manufacturing/co-packing partners
- Escalate key purchasing decisions as appropriate
- Build and maintain should-cost models covering raw materials, yields, labor, energy, freight, overhead, and margin
- Apply total cost of ownership analysis to supplier selection and co-packer evaluations
- Analyze pricing, identify cost-saving opportunities, and prepare negotiation materials
- Track and report market trends, commodity indices, supply/demand trends, inflationary pressures, and geopolitical or weather-related risks
- Summarize market insights and recommend sourcing, contract, and pricing approaches for management review
- Support supplier and co-packer selection, RFQ/RFP processes, contracting, and performance reviews
- Participate in commercial negotiations and lead negotiations on smaller or lower-risk agreements
- Assist with supplier development and dual-sourcing initiatives
- Track supplier scorecards, delivery performance, and quality or service issues
- Follow through on corrective actions
- Collaborate with Operations, Planning, R&D, Quality, Finance, and Engineering
- Support new product development and line extensions through early ingredient and co-packer engagement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field
- 3+ years of procurement or sourcing experience, preferably in food manufacturing or CPG
- Exposure to sourcing commodities, ingredients, oils, sweeteners, or proteins
- Experience with, or strong interest in, working with co-packers and co-manufacturers
- Demonstrated ability to support supplier negotiations and cost improvement initiatives
- Working knowledge of should-cost or cost breakdown analysis
- Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and basic modeling
- ERP experience required; SAP preferred
- Clear communication and comfort working cross-functionally
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily
