About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary engineering interface representing LRE during project execution
  • Plan and manage technical aspects and decisions for wind, solar, and energy storage projects
  • Coordinate with Development, Interconnection, Permitting, Real Estate, Operations, Construction, Quality, Procurement, Finance, and Project Management
  • Direct multi-discipline engineering teams and consultants
  • Finalize engineering exhibits for EPC contracts and support owner-supplied equipment agreements
  • Support EPC contracting by reviewing scopes of work and responding to bid clarifications and exclusions
  • Manage receipt and review of engineering deliverables from EPC contractors and equipment providers
  • Review project design submittals against design criteria, constraints, energy requirements, and contract requirements
  • Manage responses to RFIs and equipment submittals
  • Provide EPC contractors with technical information for owner-supplied equipment
  • Support site and project management teams with site visits, inspections, meetings, and change-order review
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects within resource and priority constraints
  • Analyze engineering alternatives for cost-effectiveness, technical adequacy, and safety compliance
  • Maintain communication with cross-functional groups and incorporate their input into engineering decisions
  • Analyze schedules, budgets, and resource indicators and make adjustments
  • Provide technical support on PPAs, Interconnection Agreements, insurance forms, and independent-engineer questions
  • Escalate engineering issues affecting schedule or budget and recommend solutions
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are complete and available to Operations after execution
  • Report to the Manager of Project Engineering

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-Year Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • 3 - 6 years of relevant experience in power generation, preferably renewables
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards including the IBC, ASCE 7, and the NEC
  • Understanding of building permit processes
  • Familiarity with construction techniques
  • Strong project management skills
  • Professional interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with people at all levels and with customers and vendors
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to organize project engineering schedules and resources
  • Ability to analyze project issues and initiate solutions with minimum supervision
  • Understanding of multi-discipline engineering functions and interdependencies
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, drawings, and specifications
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license
  • Preferred: technical knowledge of PV, wind, and storage power plant systems and equipment
  • Preferred: understanding of project development processes
  • Preferred: knowledge of power project engineering
  • Preferred: knowledge of procurement and construction processes
  • Preferred: proficiency with Bluebeam Revu
  • Preferred: familiarity with AutoCAD, PVsyst, PlantPredict, Openwind, and other automated layout/optimization tools
  • Preferred: knowledge of engineering economics and optimization
  • Preferred: E.I.T. certificate and progress toward PE license
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 25% of the time
  • Current authorization to work for any employer in the United States full-time without requiring employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
