About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and continuously develop the health and safety function across ESR Europe
- Act as the organisation’s principal health and safety advisor
- Set strategic objectives and ensure compliance with legislative requirements
- Provide assurance that effective health and safety management systems are in place across corporate operations and the commercial property portfolio
- Work with Asset Managers, Property Managers and Facilities Managers to manage risk and drive continuous improvement
- Oversee audits and incident management
- Foster a positive safety culture throughout the organisation
- Maintain health and safety policies, procedures and documentation
- Audit health and safety policies and working procedures and report performance to Directors
- Administer accident investigations and statutory reporting, including UK RIDDOR reports
- Track incident and near-miss trends and drive corrective and preventive actions
- Advise Directors and Senior Management on legislative and policy changes
- Liaise with local health and safety organisations, insurers and external bodies
- Identify training needs and upskill staff
- Oversee compliance and risk management by third-party managing agents
- Support ESR’s European offices and coordinate competent local specialists where jurisdiction-specific expertise is required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experienced and commercially minded health and safety professional
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and guidance, including UK RIDDOR requirements
- Ability to set and deliver operational health and safety objectives
- Ability to manage health and safety policies, procedures and documentation
- Experience conducting audits and providing assurance
- Experience managing accident investigations, incident reporting and corrective/preventive actions
- Ability to advise directors and senior management on legislative and policy changes
- Ability to liaise with health and safety organisations, insurers and external bodies
- Ability to identify and source health and safety training
- Ability to assess third-party managing agent compliance and risk management
- Ability to coordinate local health and safety specialists across European jurisdictions
