About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide transmission planning consulting services as an entry-level engineer under the supervision of senior staff
  • Support projects for Municipal Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, and Regional Planning organizations (ISOs/RTOs)
  • Solve simple, routine technical problems using established procedures and policies
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to transmission system planning and power system analysis
  • Utilize and develop proficiency in ETAP, SKM, CYME, Synergi, WindMil, PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, or ASPEN
  • Assist with technical writing of project findings and basic analysis for project reports
  • Communicate facts, basic analysis, and engineering processes to peers
  • Learn to apply NERC reliability standards, FERC regulatory policies, and IEEE standards to infrastructure projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • Approximately 0 - 4 years of prior relevant experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of electrical engineering, including load flow, short circuit, and basic circuitry
  • Ability to solve routine technical problems in a team environment
  • Solid oral and written communication skills for peer-to-peer collaboration
  • Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites as required for data collection or team meetings
