About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide cloud operations and engineering tasks to enhance, sustain, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure AWS cloud solutions
  • Perform AWS cloud operations, sustainment, and maintenance activities
  • Develop cloud strategy and roadmaps aligned with organizational objectives and technical requirements
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and assess impacts on organizational and program goals
  • Drive DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and automation adoption
  • Optimize application performance and reliability in cloud environments
  • Design, implement, and sustain secure cloud architectures using zero-trust and defense-in-depth principles
  • Ensure compliance with SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, STIG, and regulatory requirements
  • Implement identity and access management solutions and security monitoring frameworks
  • Facilitate customer onboarding and cloud adoption
  • Assess legacy systems and design modernization strategies, including containerization and microservices
  • Develop migration methodologies and minimize disruption during transitions
  • Manage and optimize AWS environments, networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, and SQL systems
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD workflows and infrastructure as code using Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, and Guacamole
  • Containerize applications
  • Support design and development of Shared Services
  • Configure and troubleshoot cloud, virtual, and physical hardware and software systems
  • Establish and maintain SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Prepare technical documentation
  • Collaborate with development, operations, security, and product management teams
  • Create reference architectures, design patterns, and technical standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelors and 8+ years or more of experience; Masters and 6+ years or more of experience; additional experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
  • Active Secret clearance required to start
  • US citizenship required
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent (IAT-2) certification
  • Expert-level experience designing and supporting cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI)
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, and DevOps/DevSecOps practices
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native application architectures
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, networking, and cloud security concepts
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages, such as Python, Bash, or Go
  • Demonstrated experience in cloud operations and sustainment and performing the listed primary responsibilities
  • Preferred: experience with USAF Cloud One or Platform 1; Zero Trust Architecture; customer-facing work; Active Directory, AWS AD, SAML; Ansible, AWS console, Elastic, Jira, Confluence, Git, Bitbucket, SaaS offerings; cloud-based applications; Windows Server; cloud certifications
